Dr Kaitlyn Tse

Registered Counselling Psychologist, MSSc

About Me

Hello! I'm Kaitlyn Tse, a Hong Kong-registered psychologist and an affiliate fellow of the Hong Kong Psychological Society (DCoP, AFHKPS). I love swimming, cooking, baking, hiking, walking, starting DIY projects, reading, listening to podcasts etc. These activities play an important role in my mental health and well-being. I also like spending time with my loved ones, yet it would take me days to recharge my social battery.

I worked with children and caregivers for more than 6 years before becoming a psychologist and specializing in offering long-term psychotherapy and short-term counselling services to adults. My approach focuses on what makes us human. I am not much different from you in the sense that I’m not immune from anxiety, depression, anger, insecurity, confusion, family issues, loss and grief etc. I see my clients as holistic individuals beyond diagnostic terms. My goal is to help clients figure out how to be healthy individuals and develop their personal philosophies of life. My style can be playful but serious when it needs to be. I work experientially with emotions, narratives, images, analogies, and metaphors in a way that clients can easily relate and resonate with, engaging their mind, body and spirit, the conscious and the unconscious mind, the present and the past. I take into account both eastern and western psychology. Coming from a strong psychology background, I empathize with evidence-based and ethical practice. My practice continues to be informed by the emerging neurobiology and physiology of emotions, the study of the human psyche and behaviors, traditional Chinese medicine, cultures and spirituality etc.

Over the years, I’ve extensively worked with organizations and clients of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. Each journey is highly individual, therefore there are endless possibilities that we can explore and discuss together depending on the complexity and severity of your presenting issues. Not only will I listen empathically but with your collaboration, I will develop a clear map of where you are in your journey and figure out ways to move forward and get unstuck. Sometimes, the process involves decreasing your distressing symptoms, increasing your ability for emotional regulation, understanding your emotional reactions and patterns in life, exploring the core issues and family origin, healing from invisible pain, improving interpersonal relationships, cultivating self-compassion and achieving a better health overall.

My biggest satisfaction is to celebrate my clients’ growth, sending them away with the confidence that they have become stronger, have transformed to a better self, and are well-equipped to face the challenges ahead. It would be my privilege to get to know you. I am ready to embark on the transformative journey with you, when you are also ready.
